Gain an understanding of the geographic foundation of the East Asia region (China, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, and Taiwan) including demographics, social issues, settlement patterns, cultural attributes, agriculture systems, economics, and politics.

Gain an understanding of the natural geographic base of East Asia. This includes physiography, climates, natural resources, and natural hazards.
