Course Outcomes

Medieval Nordic Culture

Students will learn to recognize and critically reflect upon key dimensions of literature, art, society, culture, and history of Scandinavia in the medieval era, with an emphasis on appreciating the culture's literature, mythology, and visual art.

Analytic Skills and Writing

Students will develop analytic skills through class discussion, oral presentations, and/or writing that demonstrate mature thinking, clarity of expression, the orderly development of ideas, and vigorous argument regarding the art, history, and historical reception of Viking culture.

Life-Long Learning

Students will develop attitudes and habits of thought, expression, and study that will supplement other humanities and non-humanities degrees and also encourage life-long learning and continued contact with the informed study of art, literature, and Nordic culture.
