Comprehension

Students will comprehend Swedish as they hear and read authentic language relating to familiar topics.

Speaking

Students will be able to speak Swedish well enough to satisfy immediate needs. (They will learn to communicate in basic social situations, meet routine travel needs, obtain food and lodging, carry out simple transactions, and talk about a variety of topics of common interest primarily in the present, with limited use of other time frames.)

Writing

Students will be able to write short messages and well-articulated sentences in Swedish on familiar topics.

Language Learning Strategies

Students will develop comprehension and learning strategies to help them derive meaning from a wide variety of authentic language texts.

Culture

Students will display appropriate awareness of everyday culture in Swedish-speaking countries.
