Identify, locate, read critically, and analyze major and selected minor texts and associated with the Latter-Day Saints.
Literary Periods and Genres
Accurately characterize historical periods of LDS literary expression and be able to identify and offer examples of a range of LDS literary genres. Articulate the relevance of LDS literature in the past and present, and connect LDS literary expression to the LDS church, its theology, and to the everyday lives of church members.
Research and Writing Skills
Form a research strategy, independently locate relevant digital and print sources, and draw upon these to develop an effective written argument pertinent to the material studied in the class. Produce polished, competent, formal writing, free from distracting errors in mechanics, syntax, and formatting, and in accordance with MLA formatting and citation guidelines.
