Contributions and Representations of Women

Students will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of women's contributions to and representations in a particular field: literature, politics, psychology, music, or theater, etc.

Critical Thinking

Students will strengthen their critical thinking skills through research, writing, and/or oral presentation opportunities.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have developed:

  • practice and proficiency in critical thinking, writing, and reading through written assignments
  • knowledge of selected female literary traditions throughout the Americas
  • competence in utilizing methods of feminist analysis that emphasize the intersections of race, gender, and class in shaping of women's experience throughout the Americas
  • understanding of the role of social diversity in shaping students' own attitudes and values
