Course Outcomes

Understand Camp Cooking Principles

Students will learn about camp cooking equipment, supplies, cooking with charcoal, cleaning Dutch Ovens, and the logistics of cooking for large camp groups as they attend class meetings and access the class blog.

Develop Camp Cooking Skills

Students will become proficient at camp cooking as they prepare 8 different Dutch Oven and backpacking dishes in and out of class.

Demonstrate Camp Cooking Expertise

Students will demonstrate expertise as they post new recipes to the class blog, participate in a final Dutch oven cook-off, and successfully complete a final exam.
