Course Outcomes


Students will prepare lesson plans and implement their plans in teaching demonstrations (see Chinese major expected learning outcome 3).

Evaluate and develop language teaching materials

Learn to critically evaluate existing language materials and teaching methods, develop an understanding of curriculum design and materials development, and develop effective teaching materials (see Chinese major expected learning outcome 3).

Demonstrate knowledge of teaching four language skills

Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles and methods of teaching the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, within a cultural context (see Chinese major expected learning outcomes 1-3).

Apply basic theories and methods of instruction

Apply a knowledge of basic theories and methodologies for teaching a foreign language including being able to use a performance-based approach for teaching Chinese (see Chinese major expected learning outcome 3).
