Course Outcomes

Scope

Students will acquire a basic understanding of the development of Japanese architecture from 1100 AD to the present.

Art and Architecture

Students will become familiar with the contributions of individual Japanese artists and architects.

Analysis

Students will improve research, writing and analytical skills of Japanese art and architecture.

Research project

Students will acquire a more detailed knowledge of a particular work of Japanese art, monument and/or architect and/or architectural theory through the research and writing of a term paper.
