Successful students will intelligently evaluate selected texts of Horace, Petronius, and Juvenal in the original language and express their understanding in examinations and essays.

Reading Latin with Understanding

By approaching texts of Horace, Petronius, and Juvenal successful students will learn techniques of reading Latin prose and verse literature with subtlety and precision.

Critical Method

Successful students will understand and apply principles and practice of critical method in all its complexity, with specific reference to Roman satire.
