Successful students will understand and apply principles and practice of critical method in all its complexity, with specific reference to the tragedies of Sophocles and Euripides.
Literary History
Successful students will understand the place of Greek tragedy in the literary history of Classical antiquity, locating it in the larger context of political and cultural history.
Close Reading in Original Language
Successful students will intelligently evaluate dramatic texts through close reading in the original language and express this in examinations and essays.
